Bambini al centro – Children at the Centre

Game Ability – Bambini al Centro is a three-year program funded by Fondazione Cariverona that integrates teacher training, student workshops, and the development of professional video games, with the goal of building a concrete bridge between block-based programming and high-level software development.
The project emerges within the Game Ability ecosystem, following the success of a previous program in which a point-and-click video game was developed together with high school students. This new chapter is now being carried forward by Vibrisse Studio, in collaboration with schools and local partners, involving two primary schools in Vicenza and one in Zermeghedo.
The initiative has been reimagined with a completely new approach, combining Scratch-based learning with professional video game development.
Educational Path
The program begins with online training for teachers, focused on the use of Scratch as a tool for programming, game-based learning, and the development of logical and narrative skills, providing practical methodologies for integrating coding into the school curriculum in a structured and conscious way.
This phase is followed by in-person work with students, through workshops in which coding becomes a creative space: children learn programming, game design, character design, 2D animation, and narrative construction for games, understanding how every technical decision is also a design choice.
Alongside the workshops, Vibrisse Studio develops professional educational video games specifically designed for the project. At the end of the program, the children play the complete video game and recognize within it the logics, dynamics, and mechanics they previously experimented with in Scratch, thus perceiving the continuity between what they created and the final product.
This step represents the pedagogical core of the project: making visible the connection between play and programming, between creativity and engineering, encouraging a conscious orientation toward STEM disciplines, and transforming the video game into a motivating, meaningful, and culturally grounded environment.
